My Heart Will Go On

About 2 weeks ago, Kent Tahsequah a friend of mine asked me to pose for one of his paintings. He told me how to pose and that the painting would have a HIV/AIDS theme. That is all he needed to say.. He also mentioned that it was also going to be included in a silent auction at the Red Ribbon Disco Ball to help raise funds for the Southern Colorado AIDS Project (S-CAP) I felt so honored that Kent asked me to do this.  I immediately said yes to him. I never had anyone paint me before so this was a new way for me to help those living with HIV/AIDS. I told him I am far from a model but I would still do it.  Once it was finished Kent sent me a image of the finished piece and asked me to name it. After looking at it for a bit I decided to name it "My Heart Will Go On". I thought it fit the painting perfect.
The 2012 Red Ribbon Disco Ball marks the 20th anniversary of the S-CAP gala and will be an evening filled with high energy, delightful dining, outrageous dancing, and creative fundraising supporting prevention outreach & programs to young adults and individuals in high risk populations as well as directly benefiting individuals and families personally impacted by HIV and AIDS.

The evening will include educational exhibits, and panels from the National AIDS Memorial Quilt featuring Sylvester and Freddy Mercury. In addition some great auction items will be found in the Silent and Live auctions…keep your eyes out for the autographed Lance Armstrong jersey from 2007 Tour De France and an opportunity to bid on a one-hour ride in a Russian Fighter jet.

This year’s event is being held at the Antlers Hilton Hotel and begins at 6 p.m. with reception and silent auction. Entertainment is being provided by Denver’s Boogie Machine – The Super 70’s Disco Dynamo! TV News 5’s morning weatherman Craig Eliot, is back by popular demand and will serve as emcee for the gala. So Dig out those disco duds and polish up your hustle for an incredibility fun evening.. - Register for the event by April 10th
